The Boost Initiative aims to release dormant and inactive charitable assets to help meets the needs of communities across the UK.
The project is led by Community Foundation for Merseyside on behalf of the Community Foundation Network and receives support from a range of organisations.
Community Foundation for Merseyside works with donors who care about their communities, with the aim of providing sustainable funds that will have a lasting impact on local communities.
The Foundation distributed over £5 million last year to more than 1,300 community groups throughout the region.
As the lead foundation on The Boost Initiative, Community Foundation for Merseyside has developed the procedures that will help unlock and enhance dormant and inactive charitable assets for effective use by communities across the UK.

The Community Foundation Network represents the community foundation movement in the UK.
Community Foundation Network provides the links to 55 local community foundations that cover 94% of the UK – ensuring Boost Initiative can deliver support to trustees across most of the country.
The Charity Commission is the regulatory body for charities across England and Wales. It is established by law to regulate the registration of charities. Their aim is to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of charities.
Their legal expertise and thorough understanding of charity law has been instrumental in providing the technical support required to develop the Boost Initiative.

Lloyds TSB Foundations supported the Boost Initiative by funding the initial development of the project.
As one of the larger grant making organisations in the UK their aim is to work in partnership with other charities to help disadvantaged members of the community play a more active role in community life.
The Baring Foundation has existed since 1969 to support voluntary sector organisations as they improve the quality of life for disadvantaged people throughout the UK.
They provided the Boost Initiative with a grant to support the early development of the project. Thanks to such grants, the Boost Initiative has been able to set up the infrastructure necessary to enhance the assets of small inactive or dormant trusts.
