About the Boost Initiative

The main aim of the Boost Initiative is to unlock and enhance dormant and inactive charitable assets so that they meet real and current needs within neighbourhoods and communities across the UK

The way that the Boost Initiative would like to do this is to link trustees of dormant and inactive trusts to local community foundations, so that they can take advantage of the foundation's knowledge and expertise in delivering charitable funds.

Community Foundations are dedicated to strengthening local communities. They connect organisations and individuals with local causes.

The Community Foundation Network represents 55 local community foundations nationally. Across the Network, foundations delivered around £70 million last year on behalf of 12,500 donors. This has benefited more than 18,000 community groups across the UK.

Community Foundations are specialists in the management and distribution of funds for hugely diverse charitable activities, including the management of endowed funds.

By working with the Boost Initiative, trustees can deliver effective grant making while ensuring that their assets meet the needs of local communities.Community Foundations can offer a flexible, cost effective and trouble free solution to giving in local communities – without the burden of doing it alone.
